Nicole Richie and Joel Madden celebrated their daughter Kate’s high school graduation as a family, posing for a beaming selfie with the graduate alongside Nicole’s mother, Brenda Richie. At one point, their rarely seen son Sparrow, 16, stood between Joel and Nicole for a family photo while Kate smiled on the other end.

Nicole wore a rust-colored leopard print dress with a black sweater and hat, while Joel kept it casual in a black T-shirt and baseball cap. Sparrow also dressed casually in a black graphic T-shirt and jeans and later joined the family for selfies on the field. Kate marked the occasion on her Instagram Stories with a black-and-white photo of herself and friends in caps and gowns, each blowing a kiss to the camera and captioning the image, "[peace] out." She was introduced as Kate Richie Madden when she walked across the stage.

Born Harlow Winter Kate Richie Madden, she has begun going by her middle name publicly, her mother said in January.
