Nicolas Cage Names Andrew Garfield His Favorite Live-Action Spider-Man
Speaking with Complex, Nicolas Cage said Andrew Garfield is his favorite live-action Spider-Man, calling him "a really great Spider-Man" and "a marvelous actor." "For all the younger Peter Parker/Spider-Men, he was the one that I thought was really something to watch.
I would put Garfield as, in my view, the best Spider-Man in cinema," Cage said. Cage currently stars as Ben Reilly in Prime Video's Spider-Noir, a noir-style adventure that reimagines the character as an aging, down-on-his-luck private investigator. Also known as "The Spider," Reilly is portrayed as the only superhero in New York City in the 1920s and '30s, who returns to the hero game after unfinished business and old enemies resurface.
Well known as a major superhero fan, Cage previously played Ghost Rider in 2007 and 2011, nearly played Superman in the 1990s, and even named one of his children Kal-El. His longtime love for Spider-Man makes his assessment of other live-action portrayals unsurprising.
