Nico Paz deal could unlock Mourinho’s move for Inter defender
Real Madrid are weighing a complex transfer plan that would see them trigger a €9m buy-back clause to reclaim Nico Paz from Como and then offer the Italian side the chance to keep him permanently for €60m. Inter have emerged as serious suitors for the Argentine playmaker, a development that could be used to bring Alessandro Bastoni into negotiations.
Jose Mourinho has prioritised adding a commanding presence at the back after other options have proved difficult: Nico Schlotterbeck’s serious injury put that move out of reach while Ruben Dias is effectively untouchable. Bastoni has become the most plausible elite option, with Inter said to want around €70m and having faced some criticism at the San Siro last season.
The plan faces a regulatory obstacle under FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players.
