Niall Horan says dinner-party meet-cute inspired Dinner Party
Niall Horan celebrated the release of his fourth studio album, Dinner Party, during a June 10 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The singer and the host caught up on the album and its title track, which Horan said draws directly from a night he found compelling.
"I met my girlfriend at a dinner party — more of a drinks party, to be honest with you," Horan told Fallon. He explained that the song came from writing down "what you see when you think of that night" and even worked a game they played into the lyrics. The game involved picking cereal boxes up with your teeth, prompting Fallon to produce a box of Honey Nut Cheerios and demonstrate.
Horan and Amelia Woolley have been linked since 2020, and he has said she inspired him to write "happier" love songs beginning with his 2023 album, The Show.
