Newegg has launched its anti-Prime Day sale, offering discounts across monitors, handhelds, PCs and components. For shoppers focused on gaming rigs and parts it presents a strong alternative to Amazon, though shortages and demand mean many prices aren’t as low as some would hope.

There are a few practical cautions to keep in mind. Many gaming laptops are shipping with only 8GB of RAM, which won’t be sufficient for current gaming needs; 16GB is the recommended minimum.
