New Steam store design draws mixed reactions
An updated Steam store has rolled out to all users after a couple months in beta. The redesign adds a personalized release calendar, tweaks the "popular upcoming" list, and displays higher-resolution game art, among other changes.
Responses are split. Some users have accused the update of being "hot garbage," and one commenter called the design "revolting," saying they no longer want to use Steam; others say they're happy with the changes. The writer says they're not particularly upset by the refresh, noting that while other software updates can be infuriating, Steam has generally been fine.
A colleague, Wes Fenlon, wrote in 2024 that moving the 'open screenshot' button caused an "existential crisis" for him. Readers are invited to take part in the poll and share their thoughts in the comments on the new store refresh.
