Netflix premiered the first minute of its animated One Piece reboot at the Annecy Festival, offering a fresh opening to Eiichiro Oda's long-running manga. The reboot, set to launch in 2027, aims to bring new viewers into a series whose early anime seasons were often padded with filler and hampered by low production values.

The sequence follows the original opening, with Gold Roger facing execution and daring the world to claim his treasure. What was once shown in still images is now fully animated, including a massive cheering crowd and the giant sword cutting off his head. Ships setting sail that once rode flat blue waves are now rendered with detailed water animation, and the series premiere art for "Romance Dawn" highlights improved lighting and water effects as an exuberant Luffy stands on deck beneath a bright sun with waves misting around him.
