Netflix unveils trailer for Human Vapor reboot
Netflix released the first trailer for Human Vapor, an eight-episode reboot of the 1960 sci-fi thriller. The series is billed as "an entirely original story reimagined by Yeon Sang-ho and Shinzo Katayama" and marks the first collaboration between TOHO and Netflix.
The premise centers on a figure who can transform into gas and slip through barriers, announcing killings before carrying them out; one early scene shows a person swelling and exploding on live television. The trailer suggests a blend of Invisible Man–style horror and procedural investigation as detective Shun Oguri and reporter Yu Aoi pursue the so-called Human Vapor, played by newcomer UTA.
The cast also includes Suzu Hirose and Kento Hayashi as livestreaming siblings with complex motives, and Yutaka Takenouchi as a former yakuza turned company president.
