Netflix debuts first trailer for new One Piece anime

Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming anime series The One Piece. The clip followed a brief look at the series at the Annecy Animation Festival and a new poster released by Netflix. Wit Studio is producing this new adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's manga.

The original One Piece anime from Toei Animation began in 1999 and has grown to over 1100 episodes. The first season will focus on the East Blue Saga, covering the start of Luffy's pirate journey and how he recruits the original Straw Hat members: navigator Nami, Pirate Hunter Zoro, sharpshooter Usopp, and chef Sanji.

Aside from Toei Animation's film recaps, the East Blue Saga hasn't been reanimated since the original series began. Masashi Koizuka is credited as director and previously served as director on the first three seasons of Attack on Titan, and Wit Studio — responsible for Spy x Family and Attack on Titan — provides the vivid animation shown in the trailer.
