Netflix will debut the fourth season of Dark Winds on July 4, 2026. Created by Graham Roland from Tony Hillerman’s Leaphorn & Chee novels and counting George R. R. Martin among its production team, the series stars Zahn McClarnon as Joe Leaphorn and Kiowa Gordon as Jim Chee, with Jessica Matten, Deanna Allison, Rainn Wilson, Elva Guerra, Jeremiah Bitsui, Eugene Brave Rock and Noah Emmerich in the ensemble.

Set originally in 1971 on a remote outpost of the Navajo Nation near Monument Valley, the show follows Tribal Police Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn as he investigates a string of crimes that reopen old wounds. Dark Winds blends neo-Western crime drama with supernatural elements and heightened psychological intensity as Leaphorn and his deputy Jim Chee confront external threats and their own demons.

The eight-episode fourth season, which aired from February through April, moves several characters — including Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten) — out of the reservation and into 1970s Los Angeles as they search for a missing Navajo girl.
