Netflix announces Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 for this fall

Netflix has announced a release window for the second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, slated for this fall. The series takes an anthology approach and will follow a new cast of characters after the events of the first season.

Edgerunners played a big part in Cyberpunk 2077's redemption arc. Before the game's 2.0 update transformed its systems in 2023, the universal goodwill around the anime led players to approach the game with a more open mind; the power of anime proved stronger than memes about bugs and console framerates.

When the new story is set remains unclear. This could be the first new entry in the chronology since Cyberpunk 2077 — Phantom Liberty is contemporaneous with the main game but contains one potential ending set many years in the future, while the first Edgerunners season took place before Cyberpunk 2077 and is referenced in-game.

CD Projekt is focused on the Witcher line, with The Witcher 4 on the way, and Cyberpunk 2 is unlikely before 2030.
