Netflix adds The Karate Kid franchise and related series
The Karate Kid franchise is set to arrive on Netflix on June 1. The platform will add the three main films — The Karate Kid (1984), The Karate Kid Part II (1986) and The Karate Kid Part III (1989) — along with the 2010 remake starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan.
The Next Karate Kid is the lone theatrical sequel not included in this update. Karate Kid: Legends, the official 2025 sequel that blends the original storyline with the 2010 reboot, is already available to stream on Netflix. The streaming service also carries Cobra Kai, the comedy spin-off that has become a major part of the franchise’s modern presence.
The series began as an uplifting story about a bullied kid who learns karate through mentorship and discipline. In the original film, Daniel LaRusso arrives in California, struggles with local bullies and receives guidance from Mr. Miyagi, the handyman who teaches him a unique approach to karate.
