Neopets' Aisha arrives in Fortnite on July 2

Epic Games announced Tuesday that the enduring Neopets character Aisha will arrive in Fortnite next month. Given Aisha's stature, the pet is likely to appear as one of Fortnite's diminutive Sidekicks, a cosmetic category Epic introduced in November and has since expanded with dozens of options.

Sidekicks currently range from ordinary dogs, cats, birds and dragons to licensed characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants, the Toy Story Alien, Adventure Time's Peppermint Butler, Rick & Morty's Snowball and Itchy from The Simpsons. Details on how Aisha will be offered remain unclear, but Millennials who remember caring for virtual pets on their parents' computer are probably setting aside some V-Bucks just in case.

(They probably cost just one avocado toast, anyway.) Neopets launched in 1999, created by Adam and Donna Powell, and became an early internet platform for kids to build communities around its creatures and stories.
