NBC has canceled the crime drama The Hunting Party after two seasons. The series followed criminal profiler Rebecca "Bex" Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh) as she led a small team tracking dangerous serial killers who escaped from The Pit, a secret supermax prison beneath the Wyoming countryside.

The prisoners, already the worst of the worst, had become more dangerous after being subjected to twisted experiments, and the show blended weekly cases with a larger conspiracy about the prison. Audiences were generally positive, giving the show an 81% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Viewers praised the suspense, the ongoing conspiracy and the procedural elements, though the number of audience reviews was small — roughly 250 for Season 1 and about 50 for Season 2. Critical response was far less forgiving: Season 1 holds an 18% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, and there were no critic reviews for Season 2.
