NASA High-End Computing Capabilities
NASA’s High‑End Computing (HEC) facilities and services support scientists and engineers across all NASA Mission Directorates, as well as university and industry partners. The NASA Advanced Supercomputing (NAS) Division maintains these resources and operates the agency’s premier supercomputing facility at Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, providing more than 1,500 NASA-associated HEC users with advanced computing systems, storage, and tools to address science and engineering challenges.
The program focuses on four major technical areas: supercomputing systems that deliver computational power, storage, and a user-friendly environment with 24/7 help desk assistance; application optimization to improve productivity and code performance on high-end systems; end-to-end networking to meet large modeling, simulation, and distribution needs for dispersed users; and visualization and data analysis, which includes advanced visualization technologies and the in-house hyperwall system.
