Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella warned that a handful of AI providers could capture most economic value and leave industries without ownership of their knowledge. "The last thing any of us want is a world where every company across every sector is ceding value to a few models that eat everything they see," Nadella wrote.

"There is no societal permission for an AI future that hollows out entire industries." He compared the AI era to the first phase of globalization, when outsourcing hollowed out industrial economies. "The GDP numbers looked fine on the surface, but the displacement was real and the consequences are still being felt," he wrote.

Nadella urged the creation of a broad AI ecosystem in which companies retain control of their learning systems so they can continue to innovate and preserve employee expertise. His post echoed concerns other tech leaders have raised this year.
