Magic: The Gathering's Marvel Super Heroes expansion is packed with iconic characters and ideas from across the Marvel universe, and it can feel like a hodgepodge of abilities rather than a single design direction. That made limited formats like draft feel overwhelming during a virtual preview event on Magic Arena, a sentiment I shared with colleagues.

Still, one clear takeaway emerged: the Saga cards in Marvel Super Heroes are absurdly strong. Sagas are Enchantment cards that do something each turn and then disappear. First introduced in the 2018 set Dominaria, they show up semi-regularly as a so-called "deciduous" mechanic and often appear in Universes Beyond sets because their storytelling vibe fits crossover IP.

Marvel Super Heroes includes six Sagas in its core set, plus a handful of reprints in preconstructed Commander decks and Collector Booster packs. Four of those are two-colored, despite the set supporting all 10 two-color archetypes, and two are mono-color in green and white.
