Mr Magpie's Harmless Card Game turns Minesweeper into a deckbuilder
Mr Magpie's Harmless Card Game reimagines Minesweeper as a card-based deckbuilder. Revealed at the PC Gaming Show, the game from Giant Light Games and published by Behaviour traps you in an elevator with a terrible felt puppet that repeatedly executes you.
Gameplay puts a table of cards before you: flip the ones that earn money and add positive modifiers, but avoid the JERRY cards. JERRY cards kill you, so the immediate aim is to survive long enough to earn the cash needed to leave Mr Magpie’s unreasonably expensive lift.
A metaprogression layer lets you use that money to buy perks and stuff your deck with boons, effectively letting you stack the deck for future runs. The presentation is askew and off-putting in all the right ways, giving the whole thing a deeply uncomfortable vibe.
There’s no release date yet, but the game has a Steam page you can follow. Dead By Daylight also offers themed rewards tied to the title.
