Jose Mourinho has set his sights on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha as he seeks to rebuild Real Madrid's engine room, but he faces competition from Man City and Man Utd. Dortmund moved to tie the 25-year-old to a contract running until 2030, leaving the club in a strong negotiating position.

A release clause is valued at €70 million but can only be activated from summer 2027, so any move in the current window would likely require an astronomical fee to persuade the hierarchy. Nmecha joined from Wolfsburg in 2023 for €30m and has made 112 competitive appearances for the Black and Yellows, scoring 13 goals and providing eight assists; he is set to become one of the club's top earners next season.

Dortmund coach Niko Kovac said: "Felix is developing in a good direction. He is our metronome in midfield and directs and leads our game. We need him.
