'Mortal Kombat II' Officially Sets Digital Streaming Date
Mortal Kombat II will be available on digital VOD platforms on Jun. 9, with Fandango at Home and Apple TV listing that date. The digital release arrives a month after its May 8, 2026 theatrical debut. Simon McQuoid directed the sequel from a script by Jeremy Slater, moving the film closer to the video-game tone and introducing characters such as Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, and Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn.
The movie emphasizes fight choreography, bloody fatalities and comedic elements, and it closes by setting up further adventures — notably leaving Liu Kang (Ludi Lin) mortally wounded and taken into the sky while Lord Raiden (Tadanobu Asano) searches for answers.
Produced for $80 million, Mortal Kombat II opened to $38.5 million (finishing second behind The Devil Wears Prada 2) but fell 65% in its second weekend and currently stands at $126 million.
