Capcom has revealed a major expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds called Ascendance. Described as “massive,” it sends players into the sky to face Elder Dragons and is due sometime in 2027. The DLC moves hunters from the Forbidden Lands to the Skybound Eyrie, the floating ruins of an ancient Wyverian civilization.

Ascendance adds a new location, new abilities and gear, and legendary monsters to hunt in Master Rank. Expansion director Takuro Hiraoka highlighted the floating islands, which let players ride updrafts on mounts to navigate vertical terrain, and the Booster Bracer, a bracelet that imbues attacks and grants extra mobility.

The expansion will include huge Elder Dragons such as Kushala Daora alongside other foes stalking the Skybound Eyrie. Capcom also revealed a Switch 2 port of Monster Hunter Wilds is in development, though it has no release date yet.
