Capcom revealed Ascendance for Monster Hunter Wilds at the SGF showcase, confirming the expansion will arrive in 2027. Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto had previously said in February 2026 that a large-scale expansion similar to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak was in the works.

The trailer shows hunters leaving the Forbidden Lands to explore the floating ruins of the Wyverian civilization, with the added danger of aerial lizard bombardment. As with past expansions, Ascendance is expected to bring new monsters, new questing zones, and expanded weapon movesets for the challenge of Master Rank hunts.

Gameplay footage hinted at jet-propelled mechanisms built into forearm-mounted slingers, letting a greatsword hunter chain surprisingly nimble strikes. The teaser closes with the silhouette of a long-absent creature—Lao-Shan Lung.
