Capcom announced Monster Hunter Wilds' first major expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, at Summer Game Fest 2026. The studio plans to launch it sometime in 2027 and had previously teased that it would be "Iceborne"-sized.

Ascendance appears to take players above the clouds to a network of floating islands, a setting many noted resembles Monster Hunter 4's Heaven's Mount. The reveal trailer showed returning elder dragons including Kushala Daora and Lao-Shan Lung, along with what looked like a new function for the bowgun and some new moves.

Wilds sold nearly 10 million copies at launch but faced criticism for streamlined hunts and months of PC performance troubles. Capcom also revealed an ambitious remake of Code Veronica, titled Resident Evil Veronica, which is likewise slated for release in 2027.
