Lenovo’s 14th-generation ThinkPad X1 Carbon Aura Edition brings a bold shift: a modular, serviceable design that earned the Best Laptop of CES award and a 9/10 from iFixit. It still feels like an X1, with premium touches such as a 2.8K OLED option, up to 64GB of RAM, and a haptic touchpad, but the standout is the ability to access and replace key components — battery, keyboard and ports — from the bottom of the device.

The new “Space Frame” uses a double-sided motherboard to make internal parts individually replaceable with standard screws. Memory remains soldered for now — Lenovo says upgrades could appear on other models in the future — and the Gen 14 sits firmly in the premium tier, starting at $2,199 for the Intel Core Ultra 5 with 32GB RAM and a 256GB SSD.

The faster 64GB LPDDR5X runs at 9600MT/s, while the 32GB option runs at 8533MT/s. Hardware and build are what you expect from a ThinkPad: carbon fiber construction, a very light chassis under 1kg, and a thin profile at about 0.6 inches at its thickest point.
