Mina the Hollower will join Rivals of Aether 2 roster

Yacht Club’s Mina the Hollower is headed to the roster of Rivals of Aether 2. A brief teaser shown during EVO confirmed the crossover and noted that Mina will be playable sometime in 2027, though the full reveal will come later.

Developer Aether Studios also used EVO to announce expanded modding tools for creating custom fighters and to unveil another new character arriving on Aug. 4. Gouie is described as a goopy, slimy, orb-shaped platypus who swallows foes and rips off chunks of his slippery body to fling across the stage; his voice alternates between a cheery, childlike tone and a bassy growl, creating a notably unsettling presentation.

Yacht Club has been taking some victory laps after Mina the Hollower’s release; the studio had warned it would be in dire straits if the game flopped, but it instead proved popular and sold well. Kerry Brunskill called the game “a gloriously gothic combination of ferocious combat and beautiful scenery.”
