Mina the Hollower lets players tackle six main dungeons in almost any order; aside from the fixed final dungeon, Astral Orrery—the intended sixth—is much harder, but players can access it early by finding hidden mirrors and simply walking into them. Designers built that freedom into the RPG so that determined or lucky players can enter the mirror world and face Orrery long before easier areas like Queensbury Crypt.

That openness appears in other systems, too. A Pawn Shop will buy any item for Bone currency, letting you sell health upgrades or weapons to kit yourself out or repair the train and tackle late content early; barriers like mirror entrances and bone costs discourage casual players from stumbling into overly difficult areas, but shortcuts and modifiers exist for those who want them.
