Midjourney unveils underwater full-body ultrasound scanner and spa
Midjourney, the AI lab best known for image generation, announced an unexpected healthcare project: an underwater, full-body ultrasound scanner called "Midjourney Medical." In a blog post the company wrote, "Today we're gonna announce something a little weird and a little crazy, but also spectacular and filled with hope." The system would lower users via an "elevator" into a tub of water while a ring of sensors sends ultrasonic waves through the body from multiple angles.
The sensors act "like a dolphin," using echolocation, and Midjourney says prototypes have generated 3D maps of the body in 60 seconds. The company said it will supply users with data to "become more aware of our health" and "improve our lifestyles," calling the system "as powerful as MRI, and as casual as a trip to the spa." Because users will already be wet, Midjourney plans an accompanying spa at its San Francisco location with hot tubs, saunas, and cold plunges, set to open by 2027.
