Microsoft announced price increases for Xbox consoles that take effect August 1. Models with 512 GB of storage will rise by $100, 1 TB versions by $150, and the 2 TB configuration will be discontinued. The change applies worldwide. This is the third price hike for the current Xbox generation, following increases in May and October 2025.

Microsoft said console storage and memory prices have climbed more than 2.5 times and are expected to double again by fall 2027; the Series X is now $250 to $300 pricier than at its 2020 launch. The memory shortage has pushed up costs across the consumer-electronics industry.

Competitors PlayStation and Nintendo previously raised prices for the PS5 and Switch 2, and Apple on Thursday increased prices for MacBook, iMac, iPad, Apple TV, HomePod, and Vision Pro by as much as $300 — changes that together make holiday shopping more expensive and make gaming feel increasingly like a luxury hobby.
