Michael Shanks Urges Fans to Petition Amazon Over Stargate Cancellation
Michael Shanks, who played Daniel Jackson on Stargate SG-1, has urged fans to sign a petition pressuring Amazon to reverse its decision to cancel a recently announced Stargate revival. He warned it could be the last chance to make a continuation “with ANY of the original creators/performers involved.” Variety reported that the unnamed revival, first announced in November 2025, has been unofficially cancelled by Amazon.
The series was set to be led by Martin Gero, who previously wrote and produced entries in Stargate SG-1, Stargate Universe, and Stargate: Atlantis, and insiders say Amazon worried it would lack “broad appeal” outside the fanbase — a claim Shanks and writer Joseph Mallozzi dispute.
Shanks has publicly disputed that assessment and asked fans to make themselves heard, saying now is the time to speak up if they want original creators and performers involved.
