Neon has slated the South Korean thriller Hope to hit North American theaters on Sept. 9, 2026. The film premiered to strong notices at the Cannes Film Festival and became one of the year's buzziest action projects after the release of its first teaser trailer.

Directed by Na Hong-jin, Hope stars Michael Fassbender alongside Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Hoyeon, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton and Alicia Vikander. The story follows the remote village of Hope Harbor, where police chief Bum-seok and officer Sung-ae are sent to track a mysterious creature while a group of hunters also pursue it, before a small-town disaster becomes "a tragedy of cosmic proportions," per the official synopsis.

Several of the Hollywood actors are confirmed to be voicing extraterrestrials, one of which was teased in the trailer alongside a giant spaceship crashing into the atmosphere. Made as the most expensive film in South Korean history, Hope garnered an 82% score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 39 reviews after its Cannes world premiere.
