M.I.A. says she learned she was dropped from Kid Cudi tour from her son
M.I.A. said she discovered she had been removed from Kid Cudi’s tour when her teenage son called from school and showed her Cudi’s announcement. “From a different state, my son called me from school and he’s like, ‘Oh, I guess you’re coming home,’ and I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ And he sent me the post [from Cudi],” she recalled on the New York Times’ “Popcast.” She added that Cudi “didn’t even speak to me about it.
He called my management,” and that she “even made an effort to go talk to him. He didn’t see me.” Cudi announced on May 4, writing in an Instagram Story, “M.I.A. is no longer on this tour,” and saying he’d been “flooded with messages from fans that were upset by her rants” and that he “wont have someone on my tour making offensive remarks that upsets my fanbase.” Last week the British singer, 50, sued Cudi for $2.8 million for breach of contract.
She defended her remarks on the “Popcast,” saying they were misread and that she had been referring to her 2010 song “Illygirl.” “That’s not what’s going on.
