Meta’s new AI Mode on Facebook pulls from public posts
Meta is rolling out a set of AI features on Facebook, led by a new “AI Mode” that uses Meta AI to surface answers drawn from public posts across the platform, including Groups and Reels. Rather than scrolling through search results, users can ask questions in plain language and receive a synthesized response based on what people are discussing.
The company also recently launched Forum, a Reddit-style app with an “Ask” tab that pulls answers from Facebook Group discussions. Both AI Mode and Forum’s Ask feature raise concerns about reliability: because the AI summarizes content from everyday users rather than vetted sources, there is a risk of outdated or misleading information slipping through — a worry already raised about Google’s own AI Mode on Reddit.
Beyond search, Facebook added editing tools for collage cutouts and transition effects in video montages, plus AI-powered photo presets that change clothes, hairstyles and accessories.
