Meta is developing an AI-powered pendant that it plans to start testing next year, a memo says.

The device would build on work by Limitless, an AI-wearable startup Meta acquired at the end of 2025. Limitless made a pendant users could attach to a shirt or wear as a necklace to record conversations, and Meta said the acquisition would "accelerate our work to build AI-enabled wearables."

Earlier AI wearables have failed to catch on, possibly because of privacy concerns, tone-deaf marketing, or simply limited usefulness. The memo also says the company plans to expand its lineup of AI glasses and launch a business subscription called Wearables for Work.

With those devices, Meta is apparently aiming to reverse the fortunes of Reality Labs, which lost $4 billion in the first quarter of this year.
