Melissa Gilbert leaves NYC apartment amid husband's child sex abuse case

Melissa Gilbert said she is leaving her Upper West Side apartment of eight years and relocating full time to the couple’s upstate New York property. On Instagram she wrote, "So long perfect little one bedroom apartment on the Upper West Side. The last eight years here have been so special," and said she would miss the walking, neighborhood and subway rides.

The move comes as her husband, actor Timothy Busfield, awaits trial on child sex abuse charges. Busfield was arrested in January in New Mexico on child abuse and criminal sexual contact charges tied to allegations that he inappropriately touched 7-year-old twin boys while working on Fox’s "The Cleaning Lady" in 2022.

He was formally charged Feb. 6 with four counts of criminal sexual contact of a child under 13, pleaded not guilty on Feb. 21 after waiving his arraignment, and his trial is scheduled to begin in May 2027.
