Mega Rayquaza-themed sets coming to physical and Pocket Pokémon TCGs

The Pokémon Company announced Mega Rayquaza-themed sets for both the physical trading card game and the mobile app Pokémon TCG Pocket. The physical expansion, Mega Evolution—Delta Reigns, is due Nov. 8, while Pocket’s Ruler of the Skies pack is scheduled for July.

Pocket’s release arrived outside the game’s regular announcement cadence. Ruler of the Skies won’t be the next expansion; an unnamed set called B3b is set for July 2, with Ruler of the Skies following on July 30. The game’s most recent expansion, Paradox Drive, was released on May 28 and features Koraidon and Myradon ex, which have quickly become staples of the metagame.

On the physical side, the latest set was Chaos Rising, headlined by Mega Floette ex. Pitch Black, centered around Mega Darkrai ex, is the next expansion and arrives on July 17. Pre-sales for Pitch Black were problematic: demand caused nine-hour waits and the official site crashed, randomly refreshed, and blocked users, sending purchasers back to the end of the line.
