McConaughey and Harrelson Play Possible Brothers in Apple TV Comedy
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson have worked together before — on the 1999 comedy EDtv and the 2014 first season of True Detective — and a long-running rumor that they might be related resurfaced in 2023 when they revealed a possible link in their family histories.
The pair have not taken a DNA test, but they are turning the idea into comedy. This fall they star in Brothers, an eight-episode comedy for Apple TV in which both play fictionalized versions of themselves who discover they could be related. The series pivots around a revelation at McConaughey’s Austin ranch when Harrelson brings his family for a retreat after his daughter's wedding falls apart.
