Mbeumo met United's toughest test, says Djemba-Djemba
Mbeumo has looked unfazed under the brightest Premier League spotlights. He settled quickly in his new surroundings and has been fully embraced by a demanding fan base.
Djemba-Djemba, who moved to Manchester in 2003 alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, said the hardest part of joining United is stepping up from a side like Nantes into a team of top players where you must be ready to play and win immediately. He pointed out that while teenagers can now break into first teams earlier than twenty years ago—citing the likes of Rooney and Rashford—they still need mental strength, skill and focus.
Players arriving at a big club must be aware, concentrated and take their time, he added, and he praised Mbeumo directly: "Mbeumo, he did it, he did it very well."
