Mbappe desperate to emulate Ronaldo at Real as Mourinho arrives

Jeremie Aliadiere said Kylian Mbappe will have been left "devastated" and "fuming" by his recent trophy shortfall with Real Madrid and France. Despite becoming the all-time leading World Cup goalscorer, he has yet to win the Champions League or a Ballon d'Or, and Spain ended France's run at the semi-final stage in North America.

Aliadiere argued the move to Madrid was supposed to be transformative: "You want to move to Madrid and become God there and win a trophy, win a Champions League like Cristiano Ronaldo did." He added that Mbappe will be "gutted" and "fuming," and predicted the forward will be "fired up" to start the season and push for La Liga and continental success.

Jose Mourinho's return to the Santiago Bernabeu raises the stakes. Aliadiere warned the pairing could "go both ways," noting both men carry strong personalities and pointing to Mourinho's difficult spell with Paul Pogba at Man United as an example of how such relationships can unravel if results don't come.
