Mayim Bialik felt unsafe questioning COVID school closures and BLM protests
Mayim Bialik said she felt unsafe for questioning decisions to close schools and churches or about Black Lives Matter protests during the COVID-19 pandemic. “I’m a bleeding heart liberal. Name it — I’m a liberal,” the 50-year-old told podcast host and Free Press founder Suzy Weiss on Friday’s episode of the “Second Thought” podcast.
She recalled asking questions even inside her own home and facing sharp reactions. “Like, I just wanted to talk about it and even in my own home, it did not always feel safe,” Bialik said, adding that when she suggested Joe Biden should not run again she was accused of having “turned on us” and of being “a hidden Republican.” Bialik blamed the pandemic for amplifying divisions, saying, “COVID messed everything up six ways to Sunday,” and that extremes on both sides began sounding alike.
