Matthew Rhys turns up the menace in the 2025 Netflix series The Beast in Me, starring opposite Claire Danes. The show premiered in November 2025 and quickly generated a lot of buzz; Rhys, best known for his breakout role in The Americans and a 2021 Perry Mason nomination, is more often cast as a protagonist, making his turn as a villain notable.

The story follows Aggie Wiggs (Danes), a writer who rose to fame with a memoir about her father but now struggles to produce a follow-up while grappling with past trauma, drinking and blackouts. Her life is complicated when a mysterious new neighbor, Nile Jarvis (Rhys), moves to Oyster Bay on Long Island with his second wife Nina (Brittany Snow) and their dogs.

Nile, the son of a wealthy real estate tycoon, has been accused of killing his first wife, and Aggie decides to write about him, drawing herself deeper into his orbit and wondering whether the rumors are true.
