Matt Smith unsure if House of the Dragon will reach the Gods Eye

House of the Dragon season 3 promises to open with the brutal and bloody Battle of the Gullet, but fans are also eager to see the Gods Eye showdown from George R.R. Martin's Fire and Blood, in which Daemon faces off against Aemond above the lake — a sequence the book presents as epic.

Matt Smith said the writers do not usually outline which book elements they will use. He explained that sometimes the show follows a book line and sometimes it does not, and that those choices are above his pay grade. He added that he gets the scripts and tries to influence the character creatively, but still does not know Daemon's ultimate path, though there are "big bookmarks."

Asked about the Gods Eye specifically, Smith said one assumes the series is headed there but that he is not privy to details until he sees the script and that he will be crossing his fingers. House of the Dragon season 3 arrives June 21 in the US on HBO, and June 22 in the UK on HBO Max, Sky, and NOW.
