Matt Brown faced breakup and a broken truck in days before his death
Matt Brown’s body was pulled from the Okanogan River in Washington state Saturday. He was 43, and his brother Bear said he died by suicide; in a TikTok video Bear added that "it does look like the injury is self-inflicted." Family friend Chay Moore, who was part of the crew that found Brown’s body, said he had seen Matt less than three weeks earlier and that the reality star was under stress.
Moore said Matt "couldn’t get his pickup truck running," which kept him from going on a trip, and that Matt had also "broke up with his girlfriend." "All of these things hit him at the same time on that day," Moore said. Moore described Matt walking and "riding buses...
from town to town to, to survive" after the truck broke down. He also said Matt’s girlfriend, named Jamie, was "really, really pushing us hard to get it moving and get out there on that water" and "spearheaded the searchers on that river," as Bear put it. Bear said Matt had been "going through a really bad breakup" and that "I guess he had been drinking too much.
