Mason Greenwood agrees terms with Fenerbahce as Marseille hold out
Mason Greenwood has agreed personal terms with Turkish giants Fenerbahce ahead of a potential summer move, after the club's newly appointed boardroom negotiated a lucrative contract package with his representatives. Marseille, however, is refusing to sanction a cut-price departure for the talismanic 24-year-old, leaving a significant valuation gap between the clubs.
Fenerbahce's opening proposal stands at €30 million plus add-ons, well short of Marseille's internal expectations, who are holding out for a €50m–€55m fee. An insider said: "Many suitors also think OM will sell Greenwood on the cheap this summer because the club is forced to sell players.
But they are mistaken; there is too much at stake symbolically and financially regarding this matter." With the DNCG deferring its decision, Marseille are likely to impose strict financial austerity and talks risk a prolonged summer stalemate unless the offer increases.
