Mary Earps to rejoin English football with London City Lionesses
Mary Earps is set to return to English football after agreeing personal terms to join London City Lionesses and will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of her contract to become a cornerstone of the club’s summer project in London. The 33-year-old goalkeeper is poised to re-enter the Women’s Super League two years after departing Manchester United for PSG, having twice been named FIFA Best Goalkeeper and recording 12 clean sheets from 22 league appearances this season.
Earps was also instrumental in England’s Euro 2022 triumph and their run to the 2023 World Cup final. The recruitment drive at London City Lionesses also includes a verbal agreement to sign Spanish defender Mapi León. The 30-year-old ended a nine-year spell at Barcelona, where she won 27 trophies, including four Champions League titles, and featured in a 4-0 European final win over Lyon.
León’s arrival alongside Earps represents a clear statement of intent from a club that finished sixth in the WSL last season.
