Marvel reveals new Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Survivors

Marvel revealed its next Avengers lineup: Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Spider-Man (Peter Parker) and Wolverine (Logan) will team up in November's Avengers #1. The announcement says these five heroes assemble in the wake of this summer's Avengers: Armageddon event, with additional members to be revealed later.

The series is being billed as "Earth's Mightiest Survivors," a change that suggests some familiar faces may not make it out of Armageddon. That event finds several iconic heroes banding together to face the Red Hulk (Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross), who has taken over Doctor Doom's country of Latveria.

Armageddon is written by Chip Zdarsky, with art by Frank Alpizar and Delio Diaz. Zdarsky will also write the new Avengers ongoing and reunite with artist Marco Checchetto; the pair previously produced one of the best modern-day Daredevil runs. "After what happens in Avengers: Armageddon, this lineup is angry as hell and ready to avenge," Zdarsky said.
