Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly planning a prediction-market app internally called “Arena” that would compete with platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi and aim to fold Meta’s vast user base into wagering on a wide range of events. A post leaked to The New York Times quotes Meta’s Ime Archibong: “We believe that prediction markets are one of the more interesting new content types,” and says the company plans to launch Arena as a standalone app with the option to integrate it into its social products if successful.

The incentive is clear: billions are wagered on these speculative markets every year. The proposal is stirring debate inside Meta over the ethics and legal risks surrounding prediction markets.
