Mariah Carey uses a necklace to lift her Schiaparelli gown
Mariah Carey attended a dinner at Santa Monica’s Giorgio Baldi in a white Schiaparelli gown with a built-in gold lariat. She looped the oversized chain around her neck to lift the floor-grazing skirt off the ground; the dress retails for $8,300 and the chain attaches to the hem with a gold padlock.
The piece is shown on the brand’s website wrapped around the model’s wrist, but Carey, 57, wore it around her neck, raising the skirt high enough to reveal coordinated Gianvito Rossi metallic gold heeled sandals priced at $995. The necklace both changed the silhouette and kept the gown from getting dirty.
She completed the look with waist-grazing blond hair and stacks of diamond bracelets and rings. Kris Jenner, who joined her, chose an all-red ensemble: a bright red silk coat over matching pants and pumps, carrying a Hermès Kelly bag in croc and wearing a black shirt with dark sunglasses.
