Man Utd end pursuit of Victor Osimhen amid financial obstacles
Manchester United have effectively closed the door on a long-running pursuit of Victor Osimhen despite his prolific form in Turkey. The 27-year-old continues to dominate in the Super Lig, but the combined cost of a transfer fee and his astronomical salary — bolstered by significant tax breaks in Turkey — has put the move beyond United’s reach, with Tyrone Marshall saying the "ship has sailed".
As the Osimhen option fades, Barcelona have been linked with Benjamin Sesko as they seek a successor to Robert Lewandowski, with Julian Alvarez still their top priority. United, however, view Sesko as their long-term No. 9, have received no formal approach from Barca and are treating those links with little seriousness after frustrations over the Marcus Rashford situation.
Rashford’s future remains unresolved following his Camp Nou loan; Barcelona chose not to make the move permanent and Tottenham have emerged as a potential suitor, reportedly exploring an offer below United’s £40m release clause.
