Man of Tomorrow Timeline Confirmed for Summer 2027
Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to last year's Superman, is scheduled to fly into theaters on Jul. 9, 2027. It serves as the fourth film in James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DCU and is a key entry in Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, following Superman, Supergirl, and Clayface.
Filming is currently underway in Atlanta, with sneak peeks from the set teasing a reluctant, uneasy team-up between David Corenswet's Superman and Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor as they are forced to work together against a larger cosmic threat. That threat is Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.
When asked on Threads how long after Superman the sequel takes place, Gunn replied, "Basically real time," and clarified, "Real time like summer 2027." That anchors Man of Tomorrow in summer 2027, roughly two years after the events of Superman. Gunn has also confirmed that Supergirl is set chronologically between Superman and Man of Tomorrow, with Milly Alcock reprising Kara Zor-El.
