Remake of The Man from Nowhere Promises Bloodier Action
The Man from Nowhere, the 2010 South Korean action thriller that helped inspire John Wick, is being remade in Indonesia with promises of even more blood and action. Joe Taslim will take the lead as a pawnshop owner who is revealed to be one of the world’s most elite assassins after a local girl goes missing.
Released in 2010, the original combines elements of the John Wick franchise with Liam Neeson’s Taken, following a mysterious man with an even more mysterious past who wages a one-man war. Before Mr. Wick, The Man from Nowhere excelled in its delivery of these genre tropes and influenced John Wick director Chad Stahelski.
The remake reunites several creatives behind The Raid, with Kenji Tanigaki directing. Taslim said, "We got the rights for an Indonesian remake, and I told them I only wanted to do it with the best people. I want Kenji to direct. The story of the script is really beautiful, so we don’t really have to change that much.
